Febuxostat

Febuxostat is a potent, non-purine selective inhibitor of xanthine oxidase used for the chronic management of hyperuricaemia in patients with gout. It is often prescribed as an alternative for patients who cannot tolerate allopurinol or in whom allopurinol has proven ineffective.

Colchicine

Colchicine is an ancient and potent anti-inflammatory medication primarily used for the acute treatment of gout flares and the prophylaxis of gout attacks when initiating urate-lowering therapy. It is also indicated for the management of familial Mediterranean fever.

Allopurinol

Allopurinol is a widely used urate-lowering medication primarily indicated for the long-term management of gout and the prevention of uric acid kidney stones. It is highly effective in reducing elevated blood uric acid levels (hyperuricaemia) to prevent recurrent gout attacks.

Prednisolone

Prednisolone is a widely prescribed synthetic intermediate-acting corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. It is frequently used to manage exacerbations of asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and various severe allergic reactions.

Hydrocortisone

Hydrocortisone is a short-acting corticosteroid that is chemically identical to cortisol, the natural stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands. It possesses both glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid properties and is essential for replacement therapy in adrenal insufficiency.

Dexamethasone

Dexamethasone is a highly potent, long-acting synthetic glucocorticoid with pronounced anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It is widely used to treat a variety of severe inflammatory, allergic, and autoimmune conditions, as well as certain types of cancer and cerebral oedema.

propylthiouracil (PTU)

Propylthiouracil (PTU) is an antithyroid medication utilised for the management of hyperthyroidism. It is often reserved for patients who cannot tolerate methimazole or carbimazole, and is the preferred treatment option during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Carbimazole

Carbimazole is an antithyroid agent used primarily in the treatment of hyperthyroidism, particularly Graves' disease. It acts to reduce the production of thyroid hormones, helping to restore a normal thyroid state (euthyroidism).

Levothyroxine

Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), an endogenous hormone secreted by the thyroid gland. It is primarily used as a replacement therapy for hypothyroidism and to suppress thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in the management of thyroid nodules and cancer.

Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist available as a once-weekly injection or a daily oral tablet. It is highly effective in lowering blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes and is also widely recognised for promoting significant weight loss and reducing cardiovascular risks.

Liraglutide

Liraglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist administered by daily injection. It is used to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes and, at a higher dose, for chronic weight management. It also reduces the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Insulin Lispro

Insulin Lispro is a rapid-acting insulin analogue used to control blood sugar spikes during meals in people with diabetes. It works much faster than regular human insulin, allowing patients to administer it shortly before or right after eating.
