Propylthiouracil (PTU) is an antithyroid medication utilised for the management of hyperthyroidism. It is often reserved for patients who cannot tolerate methimazole or carbimazole, and is the preferred treatment option during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Carbimazole is an antithyroid agent used primarily in the treatment of hyperthyroidism, particularly Graves' disease. It acts to reduce the production of thyroid hormones, helping to restore a normal thyroid state (euthyroidism).
