Taking nutritional supplements to combat fussy eating? | Dr. Lam Ka-yi

Many parents seeChildren with autismPicky eaters may be given vitamins or other nutritional supplements to obtain the nutrients they lack. It's important to note that consuming supplements is not a case of "the more, the better," and they are not as natural as obtaining nutrients through food.

How can we improve children's nutritional intake through their daily diet? For example, if a child refuses to drink milk, consider offering alternatives with similar nutritional content, such as tofu or soy milk, and then gradually expand their food choices based on their preferences.

Many children enjoy snacking on biscuits, fried, and processed foods, such as sweets, crisps, and sausages. Regularly eating these types of foods is not only unhealthy but will also make them less willing to eat proper meals. This will not only affect their balanced nutritional intake but, once it becomes a habit, will worsen picky eating, making it difficult to change.
