DiagnosisAutismIt needs to meet relevant standards. Young children's symptoms may not be obvious, and diagnosis is generally only possible from around 18 months to two years old. For some children with less obvious symptoms (such as those previously diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome), behavioural issues may only be identified when they face social difficulties in school or even during adolescence. In fact, children are most likely to be diagnosed with autism in the following two age groups, and parents may wish to pay more attention.
Kindergarten K1 Stage: Children generally have limited contact with others and little social life before they start kindergarten. However, once they enter school, behavioural issues tend to become more apparent in their daily social interactions, such as a lack of interaction with other children and a disregard for others' feelings, all of which surface in school life.
Primary One Stage: After moving up to primary school, the learning environment and social needs are completely different from those in kindergarten. Many children, during their initial period of enrollment, may exhibit more behavioural problems due to changes in their environment and their social skills not yet being sufficient to manage interpersonal relationships. Examples include stubbornness, temper tantrums, or an inability to understand their classmates' feelings. Teachers and parents should carefully observe their school life and respond accordingly at an early stage.
