Effective treatment methods

Medical treatment and behavioural therapyIt is currently an internationally recognised and effective treatment method. For preschool children under the age of 6, behavioural therapy is the preferred treatment option. Behavioural therapy is a long-term counselling service provided by child psychologists or therapists, either on a one-to-one or group basis, focusing on individual needs and issues. Parents can regularly review the counselling progress with the child psychologist and therapist.

ADHD treatment requires persistence, especially behavioural therapy, which takes a longer period for children to show some improvement. Private behavioural therapy costs approximately several thousand to ten thousand yuan per month (depending on individual doctor's fees). However, if behavioural therapy is not effective in improving the child's symptoms, medication will need to be considered.

For school-aged children and adolescents aged 6 and above, medication is a more effective treatment method if symptoms are severe. Generally, if prescription medication is required, it needs to be prescribed by a paediatrician or child psychiatrist, and regular follow-up appointments are necessary to check progress and development. However, combining medication with behavioural therapy yields even better results.
