What are the differences between the three?

Cradle cap, also known as seborrhoeic dermatitis, often appears in babies a few weeks to a few months old. It commonly affects the crown of the head, ears, eyebrows, and cheeks. It usually resolves on its own by the time the baby is about 9 months to 1 year old.

Heat rash is primarily caused by the body sweating too much, leading to blocked pores. When children sweat, red rashes can appear on the neck or skin that's in close contact with clothing.

And during the pandemic, parents putting face shields on their children could also lead to heat rash on their foreheads.

Eczema is linked to genetics, with approximately two-thirds of child patients having a father or mother with a tendency towards allergies, such as eczema or allergic rhinitis.

Environmental allergens can trigger eczema flare-ups, and a person's allergens can vary; common ones include carpets, plants, stuffed toys, dust mites, and chemicals.

For epidemic prevention, if parents use disinfectant to mop the floor, please remember to clean it with plain water to avoid children walking barefoot on the floor, as residual chemicals can irritate the skin.

When babies develop eczema, the symptoms typically appear on the head, face and trunk; in older children, the symptoms tend to occur on the limbs, the inside of the elbows, and behind the knees.

These three skin problems can appear simultaneously, and it can be difficult for parents to distinguish between them. If symptoms appear, children should be taken to see a doctor as soon as possible.

Information provided by: Paediatric Specialist Dr. Tsui Chi Kwan

[68,79
post-8773","parenting_info","type-parenting_info","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-eczema","category-79
["GET
